TimberTech Terrain Collection Silver Maple decking boards are popular with customers in Ontario for a few reasons. They’re manufactured from high-tech, durable composite. They also look and feel like real wood. The soft, natural gray tones give any home an inviting appearance. Each board is capped on all four sides with a polymer shell—that allows the deck to withstand any weather Ontario throws at it.
The polymer shell is texturized to mimic the appearance of real wood graining. It’s also engineered to insulate each board against mold, mildew, and moisture. Stains, scratches, and fading aren’t a problem, either. That means little maintenance is required—no annual re-sealing or staining.
TimberTech Terrain Collection Silver Maple boards also come with a 25-year scratch and stain warranty. Whatever happens, the customer comes first.
Actual Dimensions – 0.94″ x 5.36″ (23.88 mm x 136.14 mm)
Length – 12′, 16′, and 20′ (366 sm, 488 sm, and 610 sm)
Shape of boards – available as both grooved and square-edged boards (16’ and 20’ only)
TimberTech Terrain Collection Silver Maple decking boards look like real wood but are more durable. They’re also easier to install than real wood. They look and function best as grooved boards installed with CONCEALoc® hidden fastener systems. The hidden fasteners create a smooth and fastener-free surface. FUSIONLoc® hidden fasteners are also designed for use with TimberTech’s Terrain Collection.
Some contractors prefer Silver Maple square-edged boards for the main deck. TOPLoc™ and Cap-Tor Face Fastening Systems are ideal when using square-edged boards. Also, when installing picture framing, stairs, or skirting, hidden fasteners simply won’t do. Exposed fasteners are needed. Cortex are another exposed fastener system that works well.
Cortex and Pro Plug systems are not options for TimberTech Terrain Collection because of groove channels underneath of decking boards.
Remember that the deck’s underneath joist must be 16” on-center. If you plan to install the decking boards diagonally, the underneath joists’ structure must be 12” on-center. In that case, you’ll end up spending around 35 percent more on fasteners than you would with joists 16” on-center.
Most designers and contractors in Ontario prefer to install TimberTech Terrain Collection Silver Maple without picture framing. However, the right picture frame can add some personality to your home’s exterior. In that case, we recommend using TimberTech Tropical Collection Caribbean Redwood. Its powerful reddish tones form a brilliant contrast with the understated smoothness of Silver Maple.
TimberTech Terrain Collection Silver Maple boards come with raisers and fascia boards (0.56” x 7¼” x 12’ & 0.56” x 11.75” x 12’, respectively). These extra boards automatically come in the same color as the main deck.
